On Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 the winningest Girls Soccer Coach in Springboro history, Eric Detmer, turned in his letter of resignation. Coach Detmer led the Springboro Panthers Girls Soccer program for 14 years, his first being in 2006 when Springboro joined the GWOC.
During his tenure, the Panthers compiled a record of 179 – 65 – 30 including 7 GWOC Division Championships. Detmer’s teams also won 3 District Championships, 2-time Regional Finalists (Final 8), and were Regional Champs and State-Runner Up as part of a magical run in 2016.
Under Coach Detmer’s direction, 8 different Panthers were named GWOC Athlete of the year, while he was named GWOC Coach of the Year on 6 occasions. Aside from the success and accolades that the program achieved during his time, Coach Detmer’s legacy will be synonymous with toughness, hard work, leadership, and doing things the right way.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to be the head coach of this program for so many years, but the time has come for me to focus more time on my wife and four kids. I would like to thank all the administration, administrative staff, and all the others that have made my time here at Springboro so memorable. I have created a lifetime of memories that I will not soon forget.”

“The Springboro Athletic Department would like to thank Eric Detmer for his dedication to Springboro Girls Soccer over the last 14 years. While it is a huge loss for our program, Coach Detmer has elevated our program to new heights, and it will continue to grow in his absence. We wish Eric and his family all of the best in his retirement!”
