The Springboro Boys Basketball took the court Thursday at Centerville after nearly 2 weeks off to take on a familiar GWOC opponent in Miamisburg. Springboro started out hot from the 3. After one they lead 18-13. The hot shooting continued in the 2nd quarter and Springboro opened up a 14 point lead 36-22 at halftime. Springboro came out in the second half looking to build the lead and they did! After 3 Springboro was up 51-31. After 4 Springboro advances to the sectional final to play Stebbins. Leading scorers were Noah Moser with 19, Willieon Yates 15, and Kahleel Trent 14. The team shot 13/22 from the 3!
Springboro headed to Trotwood Madison HS to take on Stebbins HS in the section final. This was a tough contest as each team played hard, and competed till the end. After one Springboro was up one 11-10. In the second quarter, Springboro went cold vs. zone and found themselves down at half 18-20. In the third quarter, Stebbins found their shooting touch and extended the lead to 35-41. Springboro remained calm, focused, competed, and played together in the 4th quarter. Springboro went on a 10-0 run in the 4th to take a 5 point lead. Stebbins tried to cut into the lead but every time Springboro had an answer. Springboro missed some free throws down the stretch. Down one Stebbins with 5.4 seconds left and at the FT line shooting one and one. He missed the first and Kahleel Trent grabs the rebound. He is fouled and goes to the free-throw line to shot 2. He calmly knocks both down to but Springboro up by 3 60-57. Stebbins would throw it in but Springboro steals it and falls out of bounds. There is .5 seconds left and Stebbins throws up a shot that does not connect. Springboro is heading to the District Finals! First in time in 6 years. Leading scorers, Noah Moser 15 points (11 in the 4th), Landon Palmer 12, and Kahleel Trent 11.
Springboro will play Moeller on Sunday, March 8th at 3 pm at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati. Please come out and support!
