Panthers News · Wayne Kemper Scholarship Recipients

The Wayne Kemper Memorial Scholarship has been given every year since 2007. It is awarded to a graduating senior on the girl’s basketball team each year to honor its namesake, Wayne Kemper. Wayne was a 1967 graduate of Springboro High School and coached nearly four decades in the Springboro Girl’s Basketball Program. The Kemper Scholarship was started by Bob Westerfield to honor Coach Kemper’s dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the community of Springboro and to the girl’s basketball program. Wayne passed away on Sunday, February 23 of this year.

We will award two $1000.00 scholarships this year as a result of memorial contributions made in Wayne’s honor in February.

It is my pleasure to announce that this year’s winners are Miss Charlotte Gabbard, daughter of Jason and Traci Gabbard and Miss Julia Secrist, daughter of Jay and Jean Secrist.

Congratulations to Charlotte and Julia!
